No truth to the rumor

That I did not hike the trail. There is photographic evidence. There are witnesses. I was not having an affair with a woman in Argentina.

Happy International Hike Naked Day

I hope at least some of you are enjoying nature today.

Katahdin!

As I said, we got to Abol Bridge on August 18th. That’s the entrance to Baxter State Park, and is considered the end of the 100-mile wilderness. As usual, Dave met us there, and already had camp set up at the campground there. We even had showers – a quarter for six minutes; the General [...]

When Last We Left Our Hero – Maine, Part II

I’ll finish telling my tale, in three posts. This one covers my adventures in Maine. The second post will cover the summit day, and the third post will cover our trip back from Maine to Nashville.
On August 6th, I posted that I had made it over Saddleback in the howling wind, but was safe in [...]

2176!

Summited yesterday at 10:00 AM. Woohoo!
Will give more details shortly and post photos as soon as possible.
With the parents driving back to Nashville, now.
Many thanks to all, especially Dave and Jeff (Jukebox) for the last 10 days!

Loafy (probably) finishes tomorrow!

This is Jill writing…. Since he’s in an ultra remote area and might not update for a couple more days, I just wanted to let you all know that Loafy will likely be summiting Katahdin and finishing his northbound odyssey tomorrow, August 21.
Keep him in your thoughts!
Yay Loafy! You are amazing!

I can literally see the finish! Can see katahdin from whitecap summit. 72 miles to go.

Heading into 100 mile wilderness. Looking 2 summit on 20th. Yay. Talk 2 u on the other side.

Went over Saddleback 2day in driving rain and howling wind. Am safe and dry in shelter, into Stratton Friday.

Greetings from Maine

Gosh, a lot has happened since I last wrote. I’ll try to be succinct, yet evocative.
First off, where I am and why. I’m in Bethel, ME, which most people usually skip, because it’s right in between Gorham, NH and Andover, ME. I decided to come in because it’s the last decent outfitter for northbounders, and [...]
