Yes, I did

1088 miles hiked in 90 days, 1/2 gallon of ice cream eaten in 35 minutes, and all I got was a lousy wooden spoon!
I’ll put the pictures up shortly. They’re not pretty.
For the record, it was Hershey’s Peanut Butter Cup ice cream.
I am in for the evening, at the hostel here: “Ironmasters Mansion – an [...]

Halfway-ish

Like I said, Harper’s Ferry is the spiritual half-way point, so I am spiritually half-done. I will be physically half-done on Wednesday. Huh, interesting turn of phrase that. Am I really half done? Well, there’s about 15% less of me, I guess. But I wouldn’t say I’m being done in, or anything like that… But [...]

Mile 966, Front Royal, VA

Hello from the Quality Inn in Front Royal. I did a relatively easy 14 mile slackpack today, and the folks picked me up. Going to dinner soon. Relatively easy. Well, it was muddy and mucky, but otherwise uneventful.
Had a great 5 days in Shenandoah National Park. Highlights:- Saw a bear cub, about 20 yards off [...]

I just saw some bear poop with flecks of gore tex in it. I am very afraid!

Dear hikers, did u go 2 a microbrewpub last nite? No u did not. Did a black cat sleep on yr head? No it did not. Thx steve and j m!

Had a short day into Waynesboro today. Had [...]

Salut, Aloys!

Super! Bonne continuation! – Loafy!

Mile 796. Apparently it is pronounced byoona vista. Cant find the social club, tho.

Mile 717

Hey, I managed to have my first Mexican food on the trail last night, for Cinco de Mayo. I probably would have eaten there (across from motel) on any date, but it was very cool that it happened to be Cinco.
I got over my slight existential funk brought about by 6 days off the trail, [...]

I lied. Hid in the motel in pearisburg 1 more day. Got back on trail wed. All good, weather beautiful, town/motel 2morrow @ mi. 717
