Cool Synchronicity

I was procrastinating on my job search, reading the craigslist missed connections – something I highly recommend for entertainment value. There was a posting about “the girl at the Dan Deacon show last night,” the usual stuff about I saw you dancing and thought you were hot but I didn’t have the courage and this [...]

Santa Cruz Half-Marathon

Yesterday Lisa and I ran the Santa Cruz half-marathon. It was a gorgeous day, though a little warm. The high was 90 degrees, tying a record high set in 1906 (the day after The Big One, in fact). It was surely in the 80’s by the time we finished the race. That’s about as warm [...]

Did anyone else in the bay area …

… spend their entire day trying to obtain tickets to the Green Day “secret” show tomorrow at the Fox Theater in Oakland?
I tried winning them via Live 105 many times, and I tried to buy them as soon as they went on sale at 5PM.
Alas, no joy.

Grand Lake Farmer’s Market

Just came back from the Grand Lake Farmer’s Market, and I’m so happy I just have to share my joy.
There are a couple things I always get – a bag of organic mixed greens and some avocados. (or is that avocadoes, Mr. Quayle?)
Then I got some things that are specifically in season – some gorgeous [...]

OYAT – One of my greatest days on the trail

One year ago today was one of my greatest days on the trail, and I didn’t even hike a mile. For starters, I was at Kincora, which is truly a special place. Thanks again to Bob Peoples.
Every Tuesday, during the season, Bob recruits from among his guests to do trail-building. Bob has been doing [...]

Happy Birthday To Me

I have a lot of very smart friends. That’s why I think it’s funny that it took four e-mails for me to explain to an unnamed friend that even though I am turning 37, the upcoming year would in fact be my “38th year” not my 37th year. It’s a common mistake.
Looking forward to dinner [...]

My 100th post – Movie Review

My dashboard tells me this is my 100th post. Hmmm.
Went to see Slumdog Millionaire today. I’m only going to give it a B. It’s good, but it’s just not great. I was hoping that the stories behind how he knew the answers would be more compelling, but they were not. Without giving too much away, [...]
